I have been a member of the Preston Photographic society for a few years. The society runs for 8 months of the year and provides workshops, photo walks, lectures , internal and external photographic competitions. Whilst a member I have had the opportunity to show my work internally and externally in competitions, learn new skills from the workshops and from experienced photographers
In the 2018 season I entered 7 images for the monthly competitions achieving 1st ,2nd 3rd and 4th places throughout.
Each image is marked out of 20 and the scores after 7 monthly competitions are added up. Each entrant is then placed according to their monthly score with all the scores added up for the year.
In dramatic finish to with the top 3 I was able to achieve a 2nd place for the year.

Food and Drink means Business is a publishing company that uses a number of platforms, Printed magazines, on-line and in person.
The FDMB brand is about bringing together sectors of the food and drinks industry closer together, by sharing stories, successes and keeping up to date with industry news. The brand also supports co-operation , collaboration and business support through its strategic partners.
Strategic partners are sponsors to FDMB who cover wide range of business that offer support and supplies to the food and drinks industry.
Infinity Images by James Randolph became to 11th strategic partner of the current 29 partners.
As part of the partnership ads are featured in all publications online and in print. News articles and partner interviews also appear in the publications.
Being a strategic partner has given me exposure to numerous businesses allowing me to showcase my work within the food and drink industry. In turn this has led to a number of professional photographic assignments creating images for a number of businesses.
Being a strategic partner has given me the opportunity to exhibit at FDMB live 2019, which was held at Myerscough college and attended by over 100 delegates. I made this slideshow video which was posted to a number of social media sites to promote infinity images and the show.
I was given the opportunity to not only exhibit but to professionally to photograph the event as well.
Networking and social media
FDMB has been a positive introduction into networking with other businesses, this has led to me making links with other networking groups. I attended a number of networking groups meeting lots of like minded people and learning the process of how such groups work.
During network meetings members are expected to given a 60 second "elevator pitch" to the group in turn be able to listen and take notes regarding the other members pitch. This allows for all members to effectively communicate their business and what they are looking for within the group. Each member is allotted a date where they give a 10 min presentation detailing their business to the rest of the group.
Of the groups and network clubs I have attended I opted to become a regular member of the Business over Breakfast club. This particular networking club has formal yet relaxed meetings and members are not forced into making referrals or recommendations. Also the mix of the members and types of businesses within the group are most suitable to my type of business.
Having only been a member for a short while I have managed to make some referrals and gained a few myself. I have received a professional assignment from one of the club members who is a property developer to photograph property interiors. There is further potential to work with a large printing and sign maker freelancing as part of their design team creating images. Also a creative media company again providing images for their clients.
Social Media
My special practice module has highlighted the need for photographic imagery in a commercial capacity. Many of the clients I have dealt with not only require photographs for promotional material but also for social media interaction. This has provided career opportunities working with digital and online marketers.

Facebook business page
From a facebook enquiry I was hired to photograph the parts of the menu for a new bar and restaurant, JLR live lounge. Many of the images I have created are now featured on instagram and facebook.
I discovered American food photographer Andrew Scrivani a few years ago on youtube. He has been a great inspiration in my food photography much of what I know has come from Scrivani. He is a seasoned and well respected photographer, he is renowned for creating authentic food images by using natural ingredients, controlling the light and a creating perfect compositions and styling.

Closer to home I have been inspired by local lancashire talent Jak Spedding. I have watched Jak during a number of networking inspired business seminars meet up with him at expos and interacted via social media.
I have been inspired by Jak's interpersonal approach in a business sense he is just himself and does not portray a persona which I believe instills trust in clients
Jak has a portfolio which extends from food and drink through to interiors and headshots.
I have been on-line interviewed by Alf Myers and the interview appears on his website. Alf Myers is a local street photographer and has a large following on social media.
